Epsom Salt ~ Epsom salt is not actually a salt but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulphate- Magnesium and sulphate are both readily absorbed through the skin and into the body's blood stream. Using Epsom salts in a bath creates reverse osmosis. This process pulls salt and harmful toxins out of the body and allows the magnesium and sulphates to enter into the body. Magnesium helps regulate the activity of over 325 enzymes - it helps to improve muscle and nerve function, reduces inflammation and improves blood flow and oxygenation throughout the body. Magnesium also helps to produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of calm and relaxation. Research has shown that magnesium also increases energy and stamina by encouraging the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy packets made in the cells. Sulphates are necessary building blocks for healthy joints, skin and nervous tissue. The sulphates in Epsom salt help flush toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances.
